Nikos Karacapilidis
Professor of Management Information Systems at University of Patras. Undergraduate studies in Computer and Information Engineering (B.Sc., 1989) and graduate studies in Operations Management (Ph.D., 1993), both at University of Patras. His work is aimed at augmenting the synergy of human and machine reasoning. His research interests lie in the areas of Informed Decision Making, e-Collaboration/e-Participation, Knowledge Graphs, Computer-Supported Argumentation, Explainable Artificial Intelligence, and Business Intelligence. He has a strong publication record (more than 200 research papers) in various international journals and conference proceedings. He has been involved for about 25 years in the development of ICT solutions through European and national R&D projects, often acting as a Scientific and/or Technical Coordinator. He is the editor and main author of a Springer book titled “Mastering Data‐Intensive Collaboration and Decision Making”.
Nikos Kanakaris
He holds a B.Sc. degree in Informatics and Telematics from Harokopion University of Athens and a Ph.D. degree in Graph Mining, NLP and Machine Learning from University of Patras. He is currently a post-doc researcher at the University of Patras and a Data Scientist at efood, Delivery Hero. Since 2017, he has been involved as machine learning engineer in the preparation and implementation of several EU and Greek-funded projects, focusing on the utilization and advancement of diverse ML and NLP techniques. He has also worked as a software engineer and data scientist in various companies in the Industry. His research interests include graph mining, graph neural networks and natural language processing.
Nikolaos Giarelis
He received the integraded M.Eng. (Diploma) degree in computer engineering and informatics department from the University of Patras, Greece, in 2019, where he is currently pursuing the Ph.D degree in text mining through natural language and machine learning methods. During the last five years, he is also a machine learning engineer in various research projects, focusing on the development and testing of collaboration and decision support services in diverse settings. His research interests include text mining, machine learning, natural language processing, keyphrase extraction, graph-based learning, and knowledge graphs.
Ilias Siachos
He received the integraded M.Eng. (Diploma) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece in 2019. Currently, he is a PhD student at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics of the same university. His thesis focuses on text mining through graph-based representations and explainable artificial intelligence methods. During the last three years, he has participated in two national research projects as a research engineer, where he designed, implemented and deployed diverse machine learning models for faciliating collaboration and decision making processes in data-intensive environments. His research interests include text mining, natural language processing, machine learning, explainable artificial intelligence and graph neural networks.
Ilias Kanakaris
He is a skilled technology consultant in the real estate industry, focusing on property and asset management software systems. He has successfully delivered transformation and implementation projects for global investment firms in the UK, US and Continental Europe and he is primary focused on data migration, analytics and modeling. Ilias holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Patras and a MSc in Information Science from University College London (UCL). He is currently pursuing his PhD in the areas of machine learning and natural language processing at the University of Patras. His research interests include machine learning, knowledge graphs and business intelligence.
Stavros Dimopoulos
He received the integraded M.Eng. (Diploma) degree in Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece, in 2003. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D degree in group decision support systems, elaborating diverse web technologies. He is certified in multiple technologies related to Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Android Development, iOS development and Cloud DevOps using Azure. He has also a long experience in quick prototyping and preparation of proofs of concept using the latest web, desktop, mobile and embedded development technologies
Charalampos Mastrokostas
He holds a M.Eng (Diploma) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece (2023). He is the newest member of the IMIS Lab, currently pursuing a Ph.D degree in the area of natural language processing tools and techniques for the Greek language.
George Kournetas
He holds a B.Sc degree in Mathematics and a M.Sc degree in Applied Economics and Large Data Analysis, both from University of Patras. Since 2020, he is pursuing a Ph.D degree in the same university, focusing on the field of data analysis. Specifically, his research initiatives build on the synergy of Machine Learning, Operations Research and Applied Statistics, aiming to facilitate informed decision-making for organizational executives. He has also been engaged in various national and EU-funded research projects that elaborate the above mentioned disciplines.
