Industrial Management and Information Systems Lab
The Industrial Management and Information Systems (IMIS) Lab of the Mechanical Engineering & Aeronautics Department aims to advance state-of-the-art approaches in the areas of Open Innovation, Digital Democracy, Big Data & Social Media Analytics, and Business Intelligence. Our work builds on the development and targeted exploitation of efficient knowledge graphs, which may facilitate the storage, representation and processing of (both explicit and tacit) knowledge in a direct and expandable way. Focus is given to the representation of knowledge extracted from either structured (e.g. tabular and matrix data) or unstructured data (e.g. media and textual data) to gain valuable insights and foster informed decision/policy making in diverse business environments.
IMIS Lab members have a large experience in designing and implementing innovative software solutions for facilitating and augmenting the quality of collaborative work in different applications and industries. This experience is documented through the strong involvement of its members in competitive R&D projects funded by the EC in the context of FP6, FP7, H2020 and Horizon Europe programs, as well as in other major European and National R&D programs; through such actions, they have gained substantial experience in developing novel ICT and soft management solutions in the fields of Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI), Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Knowledge Management. In the above fields, they also demonstrate a strong publication record in various international journals and conference proceedings.
